Diploma students from the University of Strathclyde have won the Scottish finals of the International Negotiation Competition, which were held at Robert Gordon University.

Makki Tahir and Mark Cobain will be heading to the International Finals in July – which are being held in Brazil.

Mr Tahir said: “It is a privilege to have been afforded this opportunity to represent Strathclyde alongside my friend and negotiation partner, Mark Cobain, at the Scottish finals and now to represent Scotland at the international finals. I am grateful for the support that we have received from Stuart Kelly and Frances Murray of the Strathclyde Diploma; it was truly a team effort.”

Mr Cobain added: “It’s truly humbling to win the competition with my friend and colleague Makki Tahir, representing the University of Strathclyde together. A negotiation competition always seems like a juxtaposition to me, as it requires genuine and authentic connection with your counterparts.

“I can’t speak higher of the student representatives from each university – they are all a credit to their respective institutions.”
