Stronachs builds employment law team with further new partner hire
Stronachs LLP has created one of the largest specialist employment teams in the north-east of Scotland with the appointment of Anya Duncan as a new partner.
Mrs Duncan, 34, arrives after 12 years at Raeburn Christie Clark and Wallace, where she was made partner in 2013. Her appointment follows closely on from the arrival of her long-standing colleague, David Chalmers who was a partner with Raeburns for 14 years.
Eric Gilligan, who leads Stronachs’ employment team, said the appointment clearly further enhances the firm’s offering to its growing employer client base.
He said, “Anya further strengthens the employment partner group at Stronachs - her arrival is timely as we work hard to deliver the focussed, commercial, cost-effective advice and support sought by employers in challenging times.”
“The mature North Sea oil and gas marketplace continues to provide significant work for the team however, it is by no means the only area of activity for us - we represent employers from a wide range of other sectors including agriculture, automotive, construction, hospitality, manufacturing, higher education, IT and professional services.”
Anya Duncan advises on contentious and non-contentious employment issues, as well as providing support in corporate transactions.
“This is one of the strongest teams in employment law in north-east Scotland, with a diverse client base ranging from small, niche businesses to larger corporates - that variety was one of the main attractions for me,” said Mrs Duncan.
David Chalmers, who joined the firm at the start of June, said: “Anya and I have worked well together for many years and we are both really looking forward to developing the employment service together with Eric and the rest of the team at Stronachs.”
With its roots firmly in the North-east and a long established legal heritage, Stronachs continues to develop and innovate and aims to grow further through an ambitious five year plan which will see further appointments in the coming months.
Stronachs, headquartered in Aberdeen and with further bases in Inverness and London, now has 17 partners and 115 lawyers and legal support staff, making it one of the largest independent law firms in the region.
The firm provides legal services to private and commercial clients in all areas including agriculture, banking, corporate energy property, construction and dispute resolution.
