Stronachs LLP to take on sixth Ride the North challenge with biggest team yet

Cycling fanatics from Stronachs LLP are gearing up to take on 175 mile cycle challenge Ride the North for the sixth time, with a team that’s grown from a handful to 15 over the last five years.

The full service law firm has supported and sponsored Ride the North since the first event in 2011 and will this year be raising money for CLAN, its nominated charity for 2016.

The Stronachs team are currently putting themselves through a rigorous training regime before taking on the two day route across the Grampian Highlands from August 27 to 28, with more staff in training to help as support riders for the event.

The team of 15 cyclists, made up of 12 men and three women, will travel between the firm’s two bases in Aberdeen and Inverness, cycling from Rhynie to Inverness and back again.

Bobby McDonald, partner at Stronachs and head of the firm’s dispute resolution team is one of the founding members of the cycling group and has taken part in Ride the North every year.

He said: “The popularity of cycling has definitely increased in the last few years and as the Ride the North event has grown in numbers since it began, so too has the Stronachs cycle team.

“It’s a difficult route, but with beautiful scenery and a huge sense of achievement once you’ve crossed the finish line. We’re looking forward to taking on the challenge and hopefully raising even more money for CLAN.”

This is the latest fundraising activity staff from Stronachs have arranged for CLAN. Earlier this year the firm organised a ladies’ afternoon tea party which raised more than £10,000 for the charity in a matter of hours.

CLAN provides emotional and practical support to people affected by cancer. Services are freely offered to all from pre-diagnosis and diagnosis through treatment and beyond at 11 support and wellbeing centres located across north-east Scotland, Moray, Orkney and Shetland.
