Stronachs v FG Burnett in battle of the bands
Front row (L-R): Stuart Fyvie and Liz Stewart
Stronachs LLP and FG Burnett will amp up their annual charity challenge this year as they prepare to go head-to-head in a “battle of the bands” event which continues an inter-office competition tradition to raise money for charityChildren in Need.
The firms, which have been neighbours on Albyn Place for more than 20 years, have each formed a band to take to the stage at Babylon from 6pm on Wednesday, October 5, with all proceeds from the evening going to Children in Need.
Full service law firm Stronachs will be represented by Bobby and the Bobcats with partners Bobby McDonald on guitar, Hamish Lean on drums and Liz Stewart on vocals with solicitors Laura Bisset on bass guitar andJennifer Love on keyboard. Scottish commercial property consultancy FG Burnett’s band Where’s Watty? is made up by Jonathan Nesbitt on guitar,Stuart Fyvie on guitar and vocals and Graeme Watt on drums.
Each act must perform a song in a number of genres including pop, rock, country and western, Scottish, blues and original or mash-up with audience members having the power to decide who wins each round.
Stronachs partner and solicitor advocate Bobby McDonald is feeling confident ahead of the performances, saying: “A group of us played at the Stronachs Tea in the Park event earlier this year and it seemed to go down well so I think we’ll manage to do a good set at Babylon in a few weeks time, however the real judges will be the audience on the night.”
FG Burnett director and mastermind of the event Jonathan Nesbitt added: “It was FG Burnett’s turn to throw down the gauntlet for this year’s challenge and in a moment of madness we came up with this idea. We’ve been delighted with the response so far and are sure the evening will be a great success, raising more money than ever before for Children In Need.”
This is the fifth year both businesses have collaborated on a charity challenge to raise money for Children in Need, with previous competitions including fitting as many people as possible into a Mini, cracker-eating, cake decorating and superhero challenges, raising more than £4,000 for the cause.
