Ten newly qualified solicitors secure permanent positions with Thorntons
Thorntons has welcomed 10 newly qualified solicitors across five of its offices this September, following a two year traineeship.
Among the recruits are six appointments in Edinburgh: Thea Pock in family; Cameron Mathieson in wills, trusts and succession; Charlotte Parker Smith in corporate; Kerri McIver in employment; Simon Holbrey in commercial property; and Danielle Connell in intellectual property.
Thorntons’ Glasgow team will welcome Ryan McCuaig in commercial litigation while Thorntons’ Cupar office adds Ross Cargill to its wills, trusts and succession department. Additionally, Sarah High will join the family team in Dundee, while the Forfar office welcomes Lauren Smith in wills, trusts and succession.
Lauren Smith said: “I’m delighted to have secured this position. I have spent the last six years with the Thorntons’ team, and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities which have arisen, and the flexibility I was provided in order to complete my final studies whilst working at Thorntons as a paralegal.
“I’ve always felt incredibly supported by my training supervisor and I credit my progression through the firm to the continual reassurance and guidance she has provided me. I’m confident in the knowledge that the firm is continuously progressing, striving to be better, raising the bar, and can’t wait to be a part of their journey.”
Colin Graham, chair of Thorntons, said: “Our ambitious plans for growth rely on developing and supporting all of our people including, of course, our trainees as we look towards a sustainable and innovative future.
“It’s great to see the diverse range of specialities our newly qualified solicitors have chosen to pursue, and we look forward to welcoming these talented and driven new solicitors as they implement the first class training they have undertaken over the last two years. Each one is passionate about helping clients and I wish them every success in their careers.”
