tHe Haymarket Edinburgh marks construction milestone
tHe Haymarket Edinburgh, the Capital’s prestigious £200m joint venture commercial development by Tiger Developments & Interserve, has marked a major milestone in construction by ‘breaking ground’ as it progresses onto the next major development phase.
On track for completion of the first office H5 building in 2018, the development will consist of prime office, retail and leisure space including a hotel and apart-hotel. It is considered to be Edinburgh’s best-connected office location, within minutes of the Haymarket Station and a tram stop linking the city to Edinburgh Airport within 20 minutes.
Graham Haydon-White, development director at Tiger Developments, said: “We recently conducted research within Scotland’s Top 500 companies that found that 83% of professional service companies considered proximity to public transport a key determining factor when choosing new office space, followed by having the right postcode. tHe Haymarket development is ideally located for both of these factors.
“The importance of this next phase in the development cannot be underestimated: we are beginning the removal of original tunnel earthworks dating back as far as 1840 demonstrating our full commitment behind this landmark scheme as it advances towards phase one delivery in 2018. With the stage one build contract now in place, we are uniquely placed ahead of any other major mixed-use development in the Capital.”
Marking the ground breaking in style, tHe Haymarket Edinburgh teamed up with Edinburgh based Hickory Food recently to host an on-site event. Impressing the 50 guests from the property sector, Hickory Food constructed a specially designed ‘Construction Zone’ menu including savoury cheese and chive scones served on a tonka truck accompanied by lubricating truffle oil served in a jam jar complete with a paint brush to dab, and Mrs Uni’s hot and spicy pakora and bhajis, served in a tool box.
