Thorntons retained its rankings across 12 different categories including corporate and commercial, social housing, family and employment, securing a higher tier two ranking in commercial property, intellectual property and personal injury.

Legal 500 singled out five Thorntons specialists as rising stars, including a first appearance for legal director, Kirsty Stewart.

Lucy Metcalf was named a next generation partner for her work in the family law team while an additional 37 lawyers and practice heads across the firm were recommended.

Thorntons was recommended in 13 practice areas including real estate, healthcare, education and product liability, achieving top tier ranking for personal injury in Chambers.

Partners Sandra Sutherland and Gordon McBean were recognised for their expertise in family and personal injury law respectively, securing a prestigious tier one ranking. An additional 16 lawyers in the firm were also recommended, many for the first time.
