Thorntons provides vital backing for local cricket club

It has agreed to provide vital sponsorship to the Watsonians Cricket Clubover the next three years.

The firm will sponsor the club, which was established more than 140 years ago, alongside Edinburgh Napier University.

The sponsorship underlines Thorntons commitment to supporting local groups in its areas of operation.

Thorntons’ Edinburgh partner Hugo Allan said: “Reaching out to local clubs and groups is very important to Thorntons, so we jumped at the chance to support the Watsonians Cricket Club.

“It’s a privilege to be able to help such an institution carry on its long tradition of sporting excellence and we wish Watsonians all the best for the new season.

Keith Flannigan, president of Watsonian Cricket Club, added: “We are delighted to have agreed this three year sponsorship agreement with a company of Thorntons standing. Watsonians is an open cricket club and we are hoping that the sponsorship will allow us to further develop our relationships with the schools in our local community.

“This is one of the key strategic goals for the club. We look forward to a successful relationship and would like to thank Thorntons for their support.”
