Thorntons welcomes special trainee to Dundee office
Thorntons was delighted to welcome its very own Oor Lillies Statue to its Dundee offices this week.
With no buckets available in reception, partner Colin Graham (pictured) had to make do with a sofa as he sat alongside the iconic figure, which Thorntons secured with a £11,000 bid.
A statement from the fire reads: “Jings, Crivvens, Help ma Boab! We’re pleased to welcome a new trainee to the firm. ‘Oor Lillies’ will be touring our offices in the coming months.”
The Oor Wullie Bucket Trail was a public art event that ran from 27 June to 27 August. Fifty-five 5ft tall sculptures of Oor Wullie sitting on his bucket, all individually sponsored and decorated by artists/designers were located around Dundee for the public to view, share and adore.
Last week the statues were all auctioned off with proceeds going to the Archie Foundation’s appeal for a new twin operating theatre paediatric surgical suite for Tayside Children’s Hospital.
