Time to shine for Scotland’s in-house rising stars as 2023 award launches
It’s time for the best junior in-house solicitors in Scotland to shine, as the Law Society of Scotland has launched its In-House Rising Star Award for 2023.
The award, which is now in its 11th year, provides recognition for the important work of in-house practitioners and in particular the contribution of trainees and recently qualified solicitors.
In-house teams are being urged to nominate the best emerging talent in their workplaces with up to five years post qualification experience.
The co-conveners of the Law Society of Scotland’s In-House Committee, Sheekha Saha and Vlad Valiente, said: “It’s so important that we shine a light on these rising stars to recognise their contributions and the continuing strength of the in-house sector. This award is a prestigious accolade for the winner and is just as important for the workplace that has helped nurture and develop their talent.
“The nominations and winners we’ve seen through the years have been inspiring, and we have no doubt that trend will continue in 2023. We’re looking forward to celebrating the winner and other shortlisted candidates at our in-house annual conference in June. It’s one of the major highlights of our in-house tailored CPD calendar.”
Last year’s In-House Rising Star winner, Mariel Kaney, said: “I was over the moon to be awarded the In-House Rising Star Award in 2022. All of the nominees were more than deserving winners, and it was lovely to be chosen from a group of such talented young lawyers.
“I am very grateful to my colleagues, past and present, who have been so supportive of my career to date. Since winning the award, I have taken on a new role at the Scottish Law Commission. I am thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to further develop my career in a new area of in-house legal work.”
The nominations will be judged by members of the In-House Lawyers Committee.
