TLT advises Eòlas Architects on transition to employee ownership
TLT has advised architecture firm Eòlas Architects on its transition to an employee ownership trust (EOT).
Eòlas Architects, based in Glasgow and Aberfeldy, specialises in providing a range of bespoke, sustainable builds for a range of clients in the housing, agricultural buildings, hotel, community spaces, energy provision, healthcare and education sectors.
The move to employee ownership, which comes as the company celebrates its 13th birthday, will help make the company more co-operative and resilient and reflects a broader trend which is particularly prominent in the architectural sector.
TLT provided legal advice on all aspects of the creation of the employee ownership trust and the transfer of the Eòlas Architects into employee ownership. The deal was led by corporate partner Douglas Roberts, supported by senior associate Nimarta Cheema and corporate associate, Faye Saunders.
Ms Cheema said: “It was a pleasure working alongside the Eòlas team to help them complete this transition. EOTs are increasingly common, particularly in the architectural space, and our knowledge of the sector and experience in handling the transition process helped us to complete the deal smoothly.”
