TLT appoints Douglas Gourlay as banking partner in Scotland
TLT has appointed Douglas Gourlay as a partner in its Glasgow office, building on the firm’s national strength in banking and finance.
Mr Gourlay joins TLT from national firm Weightmans, where he established the Scottish banking team and led the firm’s UK real estate finance practice. His track record includes working with banks, alternative lenders and borrowers on all kinds of investment and development deals in sectors including student accommodation, retail, hotels and leisure and renewable energy.
He has a wide range of banking and finance experience, from core real estate investment and development through to securitisation, restructuring and leveraged finance and from secured lending to dealing with syndicated and structured facilities across all kinds of assets. He is dual qualified in Scotland and England and works between Glasgow and Manchester.
John Paul Sheridan, head of Scotland at TLT, said: “We are delighted to welcome Douglas to TLT. He has a strength and breadth of experience that complements our deep heritage in banking and finance and continues our long history of attracting genuine leaders in their field.
“This is an exciting time for TLT in Scotland; we are investing heavily in the market in order to realise our ambitious growth plans and as clients increasingly look for high quality service, cross-border support and fresh thinking from their lawyers. Douglas’ appointment is very much a part of that story.”
Mr Gourlay added: “TLT has real plans to grow its presence in Scotland, and I am excited to be joining such a strong and ambitious team both locally and nationally. The prospect of working in such a growth-focused office with the backing and network of a strong national firm and banking practice was particularly attractive for me and I am looking forward to working with the teams across Scotland and the rest of the UK.”
