Tony Lenehan named new SCBA president
A number of changes have been made at the Scottish Criminal Bar Association, where Tony Lenehan has taken over as president.
The senior position had been held by Ronnie Renucci QC, who was elected Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Advocates in August and stepped down from the SCBA after two years.
Mr Lenehan, who moves up from Vice-President, said: “The roll call of past presidents and chairs of our association makes for humbling reading and Ronnie Renucci’s contribution is, even in that august company, unsurpassed. Having demonstrated his ability to rise to meet unprecedented challenges, our association’s loss is the wider Faculty’s gain.”
“It is an honour to be elected and I am committed to maintaining the association’s strengthened relationships with the courts, the Crown and solicitors to sustain and promote the best access to justice.”
An election for Vice-President will be held in due course. There will be two candidates – Jennifer Bain and Susan Duff.
Meanwhile, Kevin Henry has become the SCBA’s secretary, succeeding Wendy Hay, and Kenneth Cloggie is the new treasurer, replacing Stephen McCloy.
