Top 20 legal aid firms 2014-15 table published
The Scottish Legal Aid Board (SLAB) has released figures on the top 20 legal aid firms, advocates and solicitor advocates in 2014-15.
For the third year running, Glasgow-based Livingston Brown Solicitors remains the number one legal aid earner – bringing in £1,924,900 in 2014-15, which is small increase of £2,900 on last year’s figure.
In second place is Edinburgh firm Adams Whyte Solicitors which has retained the number two spot for the second year running after it brought in £1,420,700. This is £85,600 less than 2013-14.
Martin, Johnston & Socha Ltd Solicitors, based in Dunfermline, came in third place, moving up from last year’s fifth with a £1,395,800 – a jump of £29,900 on last year’s fees.
Aberdeen’s George Mathers & Co Solicitors took fourth place, after last year’s seventh, with fees of £1,358,100 – an increase of £128,000.
Meanwhile, Paterson Bell Solicitors in Kirkcaldy moved up from sixth to fifth place this year, bringing in £1,330,600 – £81,900 more than 2013-14.
Glasgow-based Latta & Co Solicitors, which was placed 322 in 2012-13, has risen dramatically – placing 51st in 2013-14 and 12th in the latest table with an 89 per cent increase on last year’s fees.
In 2013-14 its fees were £498,100. In 2014-15, they were £941,700.
