Top marks for Compass Chambers’ regulatory team

The latest edition of Chambers and Partners has awarded top rankings to Compass Chambers’ regulatory team and all its members.
Murdo Macleod KC and Peter Gray KC are identified as Star Individuals, while Barry Smith KC, Mark Stewart KC and juniors Emma Toner and Gavin Anderson are ranked Band 1.
The 2023 guide says of Peter Gray: “Peter provides a silky smooth delivery of complex technical matters with ease” and “He is great on his feet.” It adds: “Peter is superb with clients in the most difficult and serious cases.”
Mark Stewart KC “has an impressive ability to explain complex and sensitive matters to clients who often have never faced prosecution before” and is “brilliant in court”. It adds: “He is incisive and intellectual.”
Emma Toner is “an excellent advocate. She is great with clients and has an exceptional knowledge of the law.” The guide also states: “She cuts right to the heart of key issues.”
It records that Gavin Anderson is “an expert in his field”, adding: He is very knowledgeable, responsive, reliable and understands the need for client care, particularly concerning sensitive subject matters.”
Furthermore, he “demonstrates excellent attention to detail”.
