New York judge Jed Rakoff (pictured) examines the development of plea bargaining in a timely reminder of the dangers of the triumph of populism over principle in the evolution of a criminal justice system.
The US has a prison population of over 2.2 million with an estimated 20,000 innocent prisoners behind bars.
This year’s Annual Review has increased to 108 pages with full colour throughout.
