Tumbling Lassie events a great success
Organisers of Saturday’s Tumbling Lassie events had their efforts rewarded with a well attended day-time seminar on people trafficking and a sell-out attendance at the Tumbling Lassie Ball on Saturday night.
Speakers at the Tumbling Lassie Seminar, which was sponsored by the Faculty of Advocates, included human rights barrister Parosha Chandran and the Solicitor General for Scotland, Alison di Rollo QC. Ms Chandran, an expert on human trafficking for the UN, OSCE and Council of Europe, also gave a lecture.
Presentations were also made by the Trafficking Awareness Raising Alliance (TARA), which works to support victims of trafficking in Scotland, and the International Justice Mission, which works with local lawyers in the developing world to fight slavery there.
Both charities were beneficiaries of the successful Tumbling Lassie Ball held at St Paul’s & St George’s Church, Edinburgh.
Thanks and congratulations go to the Tumbling Lassie committee – Alan McLean QC (Chair), Patricia Comiskey (Treasurer), Maryam Labaki, Iain Mitchell QC, Eric Robertson, Isla Davie and Janys Scott QC – and to all those who helped make the events a success.
