Two new solicitor advocates at BTO
Scottish independent law firm BTO Solicitors LLP has announced that two of its associates, Mark McCluskie and Stephen Waclawski, have passed their civil solicitor advocate exams and have been admitted as solicitor advocates.
This takes the total number of solicitor advocates in BTO’s ADVantage advocacy service team to 17, representing one of the largest teams in any Scottish law firm.
Based in the firm’s Glasgow office and working within the insurance team, Mark McCluskie specialises in insurance and commercial dispute resolution. His focus is predominantly on litigation arising from damage to property and providing insurance policy coverage advice. Mark’s recent work has involved flooding, fires, construction works, defective products and escapes of water, oil and gas.
Stephen Waclawski is an associate within BTO’s insurance team and focuses on motor claims, employer’s liability, public liability and occupier’s liability, but he also has experience of dealing with occupational illness, product liability, dental and clinical negligence claims. He has significant experience in both Court of Session and the Sheriff Court.
BTO has paved the way in Scottish advocacy services through its ADVantage product, providing clients with representation in the highest courts, tribunals and inquiries. The expanding ADVantage team acts as a ‘one stop shop’ to clients and to other solicitors who lack an advocacy capability, removing the need to engage with external counsel – BTO led the change in the delivery of legal representation and remains at the forefront of the provision of advocacy services in Scotland.
Alan Borthwick, chairman of BTO Solicitors LLP, said: “This announcement is further testament to the quality of the service we provide at BTO for our clients and we are extremely proud to say we have one of Scotland’s largest and strongest in-house advocacy teams.
“Mark and Stephen’s admissions are fantastic accomplishments and add to the firm’s offering in a significant way. We work hard to develop our employees’ legal skills, enabling them to achieve their personal and professional goals while cementing our reputation as one of Scotland’s leading law firms.”
