Uber drivers’ silk to speak at next month’s Employment Conference
Sheryn Omeri KC will be updating delegates on employment status and the gig economy at CLT Scotland’s Employment Conference which will take place online on 8 June.
Ms Omeri currently represents the lead claimant Uber drivers in Uber BV v Farrar & Aslam which resulted in the Supreme Court holding that drivers are workers and therefore entitled to certain employment rights. Sheryn also represents Australian Uber drivers in similar proceedings in the Federal Court of Australia.
Ingrid McGhee of Weightmans, Andrew Gibson from Morton Fraser, Aberdein Considine’s Karen Harvie, Michael Briggs of Westwater Advocates and Giles Woolfson from McGrade & Co will join Sheryn on the panel of speakers along with Lindsey Cartwright of Morton Fraser who will also chair the conference.
