Usman Tariq named for ‘exciting and daunting’ Stair project
Advocate Usman Tariq has been appointed contributing editor of the “Banking, Money and Commercial Paper” title of The Laws of Scotland: Stair Memorial Encyclopaedia, due to be published by LexisNexis in 2020.
Mr Tariq is a graduate of the Universities of Glasgow and Cambridge. Since calling to the bar, he has been instructed in litigation and advisory work across the commercial spectrum and has particular experience of banking law having acted in numerous cases for and against the banks in recent years.
He was named as Junior Counsel of the Year at the Scottish bar at the Legal 500’s UK Awards 2019.
He said: “The Stair Memorial Encyclopaedia is an authoritative and comprehensive guide to the laws of Scotland which is cited in courts and used by practitioners across Scotland.
“I am honoured to have been asked to contribute to the encyclopaedia as contributing editor of the re-issue of the banking title. Banking law can be complex and much has changed since the last edition in 2000, so I am looking forward to the challenge of researching and writing the new volume over the coming year.”
