Webinar: Challenges and opportunities around new plastics and packaging regulations
CMS has teamed up with Food & Drink Federation Scotland to host a free-to-attend webinar outlining the challenges and opportunities facing businesses following new regulations for plastics and packaging.
The event will focus on Scottish government’s regulatory changes around single use plastics, which come into effect on 1 June, and extended producer responsibility (EPR) requirements to incentivise producers to ensure that products are recyclable. The online session will also cover EU legislative changes, UK proposals and further Scottish initiatives highlighting their impact on businesses, particularly those within Scotland’s food and drink sector.
The webinar, taking place at 9:30am on 8 June, will feature a range of leading industry figures including Cat Hay, head of policy at Food & Drink Federation Scotland and Joanna Waddell, an environmental law specialist at CMS. It will also include expert speakers from the Scottish government, Zero Waste Scotland, and Coca-Cola EuroPacific Partners, all providing timely updates and discussing the impacts of the regulatory changes.
Ms Waddell said: “With the single use plastics regulations coming into force on 1st June, the deposit return scheme preparations underway and the launch of the Scottish Government’s consultation on the Circular Economy Bill imminent, it is essential that those businesses using plastics and packaging are aware of the changes already in place, as well as those that are proposed and the potential challenges and opportunities this will create.
“Our event in partnership with Food & Drink Federation Scotland is designed to help businesses ensure they are fully informed of these forthcoming developments and ready to respond and adapt.”
