Weightmans appoints new partner in Glasgow
Weightmans LLP has added an employment law specialist to its growing Scottish business with the addition of Elaine McIlroy as partner.
Ms McIlroy, an employment and business immigration specialist, joins the firm from MacRoberts LLP.
Prior to her role with MacRoberts, Ms McIlroy was with Dundas & Wilson for 12 years, including five years spent working for the firm in London.
She is dual qualified in Scotland, England & Wales.
Stuart McFarlane, partner and head of the commercial team at Weightmans LLP in Glasgow said: “As with previous hires, Elaine’s appointment has been driven by demand from our clients.
“Employment is one of our key strengths as a firm, and an increasing requirement from our client base for specialist advice in Scotland made this a strategic growth area for us.
“Elaine comes to Weightmans with an impressive track record, and specialist knowledge of business immigration - a complex and rapidly changing area of law – and so we look forward to working with her to grow the business further.”
Weightmans announced last month record turnover of £89.2 million for the 2014/2015 financial year, an increase of £2.2m on the previous year’s result of £87m.
The growth has come about due to high level performances from a various parts of the business over the year, all supported by excellent operational delivery.
In response to rapid expansion of its Scottish business, the firm relocated its Glasgow office to James Sellars House at 144 George Street in the spring.
In the last year, the Weightmans team in Scotland has doubled in size, with new partners and team members joining to focus on key commercial real estate and insurance specialisms.
