Weightmans celebrates new Glasgow office and reveals Edinburgh ambitions
Weightmans celebrated the opening of its Glasgow office last night with a soiree at the Gallery of Modern Art.
Marking the opening of the firm’s new base at 144 West George Street, senior partner Dan Cutts said: “As a firm with a strong regional heritage, we initially opened in Scotland in response to the demands of key national clients – they wanted work done in Scotland by Scottish lawyers, and so we delivered.
“Since then, the strategy has been to grow organically from a small, nimble core of lawyers – and we now have 16 people in Glasgow, winning new business and developing a growing Scottish presence in its own right.”
Partner Stuart Macfarlane, who heads the Glasgow office, added: “Now that we have built a solid foundation, and are settled into premises from which we can grow even further, our ambitions for Weightmans in Scotland continue.
“We are currently recruiting lawyers from entry level up to associate in Glasgow, and our medium term aspiration of opening another Scottish office, most probably in Edinburgh, is on track.”
