Appointment of Independent Governors

The Glasgow School of Art (GSA) is one of Europe’s leading university-level institutions for the visual creative disciplines. Consistently ranked as one of the world’s top higher education institutions for art and design (QS World Rankings), it is recognised by the Scottish Funding Council as a Small Specialist Institution with approximately 3500 students and staff and a global creative network of alumni.

Founded in 1845 with a lineage tracing back to the 1750s, the School is at a pivotal point as it embarks on the development and implementation of its new strategic plan. We are seeking to appoint new Independent Governors with skills and experience in higher education, finance, public affairs and community engagement, and heritage management to play an active role in helping it realise its potential, extend its impact and maintain its position as a leading independent art school.

Working with the Board of Governors, the Director and senior academic and professional staff, you will help the School to maintain strong governance in support of the delivery of its academic activity and strategic ambitions.

Committed to equality and diversity, we welcome applications from individuals from a range of protected characteristics and backgrounds currently under-represented on our Board of Governors to reflect the diversity of our students and staff and the communities we are part of.

Closing Date: 28 May 2021

Non-remunerated but travel and other allowable expenses paid.
