As a result of our continued growth in the UK and Ireland we are looking to recruit a Lawyer to support the delivery of our onshore wind, solar and battery projects pipeline at BayWa r.e. UK Ltd. – a subsidiary of BayWa r.e. renewable energy GmbH. The applicant will ideally have at least 3 years of legal experience either in private practice or in industry. You will join a team of three lawyers and report to the Head of Commercial. We have a pipeline of 140MW of onshore wind across 4 projects for delivery between 2020-2022. There is also a significant onshore wind and ground mounted solar development pipeline for delivery from 2021.
Supporting the construction team in the procurement of construction agreements and providing drafting and negotiation support in relation to turbine supply agreements, EPC and BoP contracts in particular;
Working with project managers to implement core processes and systems to enable efficient contract agreement and management
Identifying the need for legal input and support across the UK and Ireland business and supporting as required in risk management, contract drafting/negotiation and contract implementation;
Drafting commercial contracts;
Procuring, managing and reviewing legal advice provided by external law firms;
Supporting due diligence activities in relation to acquisitions and project sales.
You are technically and digitally inclined
You will ideally have at least 3 years of legal experience either in private practice or in industry
You will be a qualified solicitor in Scotland or England & Wales
Previous experience of working on renewable energy projects (onshore wind and solar specifically) desired;
Preferably a background in construction, but general projects and energy background will be considered;
Excellent attention to detail;
Strong written and oral communication skills;
Shows understanding of the company’s needs and seeks to tailor advice appropriately;
Takes responsibility for leading on legal aspects of transactions;
Self motivated and driven;
Naturally well prepared and organised, able to deal with competing priorities and meet deadlines.
