A Principal Solicitor is required to lead the Real Estate team within the Council’s in-house legal team, part of the Legal and Risk Division. The Council’s legal team are committed to the principles of modern local government, and has a key role in the delivery of new and innovative Council policies and initiatives, as well as ensuring the Council’s compliance with its various legal obligations. 

 

The workload will be varied and challenging, but with focus clearly on managing the property and planning legal function. Applicants will also be expected to draw upon professional and commercial acumen to ensure that all legal advice is appropriately provided and to advise and lead on appropriate project work.

The nature of this work is often complex, sensitive and high profile and applicants will be expected to have a strong record of relevant experience, including a high level of experience in property transactions and planning law advice. Management experience is desirable.
