Salary:£32,700 - £49,100 depending on skills and experience + annual bonus

About the Department

Our in-house SSE Legal function operates across the SSE Group to ensure business actions and behaviours are aligned to business priorities, are legally sound, and reinforce a culture of integrity, quality, responsibility and ethical behaviour. We identify and rationalise legal risk, providing advice on both regulatory and statutory obligations, all whilst helping the business to achieve their strategic goals.

What is the Role

We are seeking to recruit a Solicitor (Scottish qualified) to join our legal team based in either our Perth, Glasgow or Reading office. Reporting ultimately to the Head of Legal for Renewables, you will be responsible for providing legal advice to a variety of stakeholders with varying needs within the business.

You will work closely with the business to develop and expand their Renewables portfolio and alongside our commercial legal team and be responsible for directly influencing senior stakeholders and providing pragmatic advice on a range of legal matters including land assembly, planning and environmental consents.

Our legal team help SSE achieve their commercial ambitions by providing a high-quality legal service, so you’ll bring energy, pace and rigour to deliver legal expertise within a complex business and ensure that legal risks are understood and managed.

What do I need?

The successful candidate will be:

  • Qualified lawyer with circa 0-3 years’ PQE;
  • Experienced in drafting and negotiating agreements;
  • Proactive and pragmatic approach to giving legal advice and support in a clear and concise manner;
  • A passion to work as part of a high performing team, sharing knowledge, best practice and supporting colleagues;
  • An up to date knowledge of property and planning law and of the Energy market generally;
  • Prior experience in the Renewables or Energy sector would be beneficial but not essential;
  • As periodic travel between our offices throughout the UK is expected, a full UK driving licence is desirable.
