Fife Council are recruiting now for a Solicitor to join its Litigation and Licensing Team.

Based at Fife House with opportunity for home working, working 36 hours per week on a permanent full-time basis. FC9 grade with a salary grade of £37,562 - £45,615.

Your main areas of work will be homes in Multiple Occupation licensing issues, supporting the setting up and implementation of the Council’s Short Term Lets licensing scheme, acting as legal adviser to the Council’s HMO Hearing Panel and providing legal advice to the Council’s Private Landlord Registration service.

You will also act occasionally as clerk and legal adviser to the meetings of the Council’s Licensing Board and Miscellaneous Licensing Committee, and conduct licensing appeals to the sheriff.

Advice on other matters such as permanence, adults with incapacity, housing, education and employment law and other areas of the Council’s legal work, including representation in court and tribunals, may be required as directed by the Legal Team Manager.

Applications from solicitors with any level of experience will be considered.

The successful candidate must have an unrestricted practising certificate issued by The Law Society of Scotland. Experience in permanence and adults with incapacity cases will be particularly helpful. You must have the ability to work with minimum supervision, but at the same time be a team worker with excellent communication skills.
