Litigation experience is essential, Disease experience is not a must

Keoghs Scotland are seeking to recruit a Solicitor with Litigation experience (preferably defender) to join our busy and successful Disease team in Glasgow. You will handle your own caseload of pre-litigated and litigated Disease cases for both insurer and uninsured clients such as asbestos or asthma related illnesses. There will be a requirement to undertake court appearance.

As you will be part of a small team, there is a real chance of progression.

Key Accountabilities

• Forensic review and analysis of relevant documents
• Analysis of liability
• Analysis of quantum and causation
• Assisting in drafting advice
• Client liaison and site visits
• Reviewing files to assess litigation strategy/ direction
• Drafting court documents and correspondence to clients/witnesses
• Preparing witness statements and instructions to experts and counsel
• Assisting Partners and other members of the team where required
• Assisting in business development initiatives, including drafting of articles, blog pieces, e-shots and presentations and attendance at relevant events

Working Hours

35 hours per week Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm with 1 unpaid hour for lunch.

One day a week in the Glasgow Office.

Skills and Attributes

• This role calls for a Solicitor with PQE experience, however NQ Solicitors are also welcome to apply.
• Litigation experience including, but not limited to, Personal Injury
• Ideally experience of appearing in the Sheriff court and as instructing agent in the Court of Session
• Excellent forensic skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Previous experience of sensitive and complex claims is preferable.
• Previous experience of time recording is preferable.
