Interim Legal and Governance Manager

Fixed term for 15 months (maternity leave cover)
Salary £49,671
Full time preferred, but open to discussing part time hours or alternative working patterns.

We are the General Teaching Council for Scotland. We register and regulate the teaching profession as a safeguard for the quality of education in Scotland. The Role

What you will do

You will be responsible for delivery of GTC Scotland’s legal and governance function, ensuring that we manage legal risk effectively, get things right through effective governance frameworks and practice, proactively keep our legislation under review as a statutory body and we act in accordance with the law.   

What you will need to be successful

❖ You are a qualified solicitor and holder of (or are entitled to hold) a full and unrestricted Law Society of Scotland practising certificate.
❖ You have role qualifying experience as a solicitor in a relevant sector and evidence of effective legal decision making and advice.
❖ You have experience in developing and establishing policy.
❖ You are an excellent communicator and have experience in building and maintaining effective working partnerships with external and external users and partners.
❖ You have high quality written, analytical, influencing and advocacy skills.

Working Hours / Pattern

We see this role being based on full time working hours of 35 hours per week, however we would still like to hear from you if you are interested in the role but have alternative needs in relation to working hours or pattern.
