Private Client Assistant
Wm Thomson & Sons is an established family office with clients in Scotland and England.
We are currently seeking a Private Client Assistant to join a small Tax and Trusts team in Dundee, servicing the needs of our diverse client base. This role provides a unique opportunity to apply skills gained in private practice to a private family office environment.
The Role
The role requires a proactive and collaborative team player with a high degree of initiative. The candidate should be an organised individual who is able to prioritise their workload to provide a high level of service to our clients.
The candidate should have good technical knowledge in trusts, executries and tax and succession matters. They should also have excellent verbal and written communication skills with confidence in client facing situations.
The role requires the candidate to be present in the office 3 days a week. There may be a option for working part-time.
Key Responsibilities
• The candidate will be responsible for;
• Overseeing the preparation of legal documentation by third parties (to include but not limited to Wills, Deeds of Trust, Powers of Attorney and Deeds of Variation) and reviewing the accuracy of such documentation in comparison to the instructions.
• Assisting other Fee Earners with advising clients on tax and succession matters, fulfil a project management role in implementing this advice and be able to effectively and clearly communicate with clients throughout this process. This may include assisting with the preparation of briefing notes in relation to tax and succession matters and changes to relevant legislation.
• Taking a proactive role in client relationship management and client care and be a trusted, reliable and discreet advisor for our clients.
• Executry, Trust and Charity administration.
• Proactive diary and document management to assist with a high volume of client meetings which you will be expected to attend. You will oversee administrative functions essential to implementing client instructions.
Qualifications and Experience
• A minimum of 5 year’s experience as a paralegal or assistant in a Private Client team of a law firm.
• STEP qualified (or part qualified), or willing to immediately enrol in the STEP Diploma. (support may be provided)
