Initially this role will be fully office based and, after a period of training, there may be the opportunity to work one or two days from home.

Working hours: 9am-5pm Monday-Friday (35 hours per week)
We are open to discussing flexible or part time working to suit business requirements.

The role

We have a great opportunity for a Solicitor, with relevant experience, to join our forward thinking and dynamic Rural – Land & Business team.  This role will assist with the provision of a quality service to clients in relation to all aspects of rural property including:
• Purchase and sale of rural properties including farms, estates and forestry.
• Providing advice to landowners, developers and tenants on rural developments including renewables, housing development, telecoms and diversification.
• Providing advice to clients on contentious and non-contentious agricultural holdings including creation, variation and termination of agricultural leases.
• Providing advice on the sale and purchase of crofts and related contentious and non-contentious crofting matters such as decrofting, resumption and registration.
• Preparing voluntary registration applications for significant Estates including castles, lochs, quarries and reservoirs and title to fish for salmon and foreshore.
• Carry out historical research and advice in connection with the sale and purchase of baronies and heraldry.
• Build relationships with our Estate landowners and provide advice on title queries, boundary and access issues.
• Provide advice to utility companies on their statutory rights, acquisition and development of assets.

You will also:

• Generate satisfactory level of fee income in accordance with team income targets, record all time and fee promptly during and/or on completion of transactions.
• Attend training courses and seminars and keep up to date with legal and regulatory developments.
• Participate in regular departmental business and training meetings.
• Promote and support the Firm’s marketing initiatives through writing articles, attendance at business briefings, rural shows and team to teams with professionals in the rural sector.
• Develop relationships with existing and future clients through hosting seminars and training sessions.
• Develop good relationships with other departments across the Firm and identify opportunities to cross refer services offered by the Firm.
