Solicitor (Litigation and Dispute Resolution)

Holmes Mackillop has a great opportunity for an ambitious solicitor to join our Litigation and Dispute Resolution team where progression and development are fundamental to our ethos. The role is ideally suited to NQ to 4 PQE. Other levels of experience will be considered as will applications from trainees who are qualifying soon.

Our litigation practice encompasses civil and commercial disputes, real estate, family and employment law. Our clients are as varied as our work. We act for individuals, partnerships, entrepreneurs, developers, and contractors through to medium and large enterprises. You will be supported by senior team members and will collaborate with our Corporate, Property and Private Client teams.

The Dispute Resolution team is based in Glasgow City. With offices in Ayr, Bishopbriggs, Giffnock, Johnstone and Milngavie, this role will provide an opportunity to live local – work local.

Role:

The role offers the opportunity to develop experience and build your career with the support of our senior team members by:

  • Managing your own caseload.
  • Direct client contact.
  • Developing client relationships to better understand and meet their commercial objectives.
  • Developing your litigation skills, preparing pleadings and submissions and advocating on behalf of clients at court, tribunal hearings and mediations.
  • Learn and develop the art of negotiation.
  • Business development opportunities are encouraged and rewarded to increase your own, the team’s and the firm’s market profile.
  • Working with our Corporate, Property and Private Client teams in corporate transactions and private client and property disputes and claims.
  • Mentor, train and develop trainee solicitors and junior colleagues.

Essential requirements

  • Qualified (or soon to qualify) as a Solicitor in Scotland and able to hold a full, unrestricted, Practicing Certificate from the Law Society of Scotland.
  • Litigation experience.
