Friends Legal are a firm of solicitors based in Glasgow, representing clients throughout Scotland. We have specialist litigation teams in motor injury, laser eye negligence and clinical negligence.

We operate a relaxed team environment involving support staff, claims negotiators, paralegals and solicitors.

The Role

Position:​Full-time, permanent
Title: ​Solicitor (Clinical Negligence)
Days: ​​Monday to Friday
Hours: ​​35 hours, 9am to 5pm with some degree of flexibility if desired – 1 hour lunch
Location: ​Home-based, though we do have an office in Glasgow for hotdesking
Salary:​Competitive, discuss at interview
Working mainly with our highly experienced Consultant in our Optical Negligence team, you will be expected to interact sensitively and professionally with clients who have been through life-changing medical procedures.

Key experience and skills required:

• 1-5 years’ PQE (NQs considered)
• Familiar with All Scotland Sheriff Personal Injury Court procedure and ideally Chapter 36A procedure as well. Able to draft motions, Notices to Admit, Specifications of Documents, Property and Matters.
• Interest and preferably experience in Clinical Negligence.
• Ability to learn and understand complex medical issues and apply knowledge learned to other cases involving similar issues.
• Ability to communicate sensitively and empathetically with people from all walks of life, some of whom are suffering from mental health issues in consequence of their injuries. Also with medical experts.
• Attention to detail and accurate concise written English. Able to work to court deadlines and prioritise work tasks.
