Tax & Succession Solicitor PQE 3 +/ Tax Advisory Professional

We are trusted and respected legal and tax planning experts and our approach to providing a personal, discreet and tailored service is key to our success since the firm was established in 1997.
The Firm acts on behalf of individuals, entrepreneurs, landowners and works with charities, philanthropists, and trustees to guide and manage complex legal and financial affairs on their behalf. Our values make our clients feel looked after.
With a close-knit team of around 230 colleagues including 26 Partners across offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow and London, Turcan Connell’s comprehensive service covers everything required for efficient tax, estate and succession planning as well as advice on the many aspects of land and property management and transactional activity. We also handle the complexities of divorce and family law, employment law and dispute resolution advice and provide a range of business law services to our clients.
Opportunity
We have a rewarding opportunity for a solicitor to join one of our Tax & Succession teams which specialises in advice to landed estates, rural businesses and high-net worth families with complex ownership and asset structuring arrangements. Ideally individuals will be Scottish qualified with at least 3 years of post-qualification experience. However, we are also interested in hearing from solicitors who are qualified in England & Wales, as well as from professionals in the tax advisory sector with a similar level of experience who may not have legal qualifications but will be familiar with the tax and succession issues facing our clients.
The role will principally be based in our Edinburgh office although we support a hybrid working approach. We are also open to either part-time or full-time candidates.
Our tax and succession specialists advise individuals and families on all aspects of estate planning including succession planning, trusts and asset protection for high-net-worth families, as well as dealing with the administration of estates and drafting relevant legal documents for their affairs.
In providing advice to clients, you will work with other tax and succession, land and property, business law, charity law, family law, employment law and litigation experts to ensure that fully integrated holistic advice is given to our clients.
As you will become a trusted adviser and sounding board to your clients, you will need to have an interest in people and their affairs, and will act with discretion and empathy.
Skills/Qualifications
In order to be successful, you will be a strong team player with sound practical and technical experience. You will have curiosity and enthusiasm to develop your technical skills and progress your career in a collegiate and supportive environment with technical excellence and high-quality loyal clients.
You will be a full STEP member or, depending on other professional qualifications and experience, be willing to complete the STEP diploma (which will be funded by Turcan Connell).
You will be self-sufficient, commercially aware and able to handle a wide variety of challenging work with minimum supervision.
Turcan Connell will provide you with the opportunity to build on your career and realise your ambitions in an environment with an unrivalled reputation, and a commitment to our colleagues as individuals. We invest in the development of our talent and provide outstanding training opportunities within a congenial working environment. We have a very strong team across the Firm, and many of our colleagues have chosen to invest their whole career at the Firm. Through living our Firm’s values, we want to make you feel looked after.
