The Scottish government has been warned that it risks falling foul of its own children's rights law if it does not give children – rather than parents or teachers – the right to withdraw themselves from religious observance at school. In response to a consultation which closed this week,

Plans to base school pupils' final exam grades on previous marks could be illegal, according to the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC). The EHRC said it was "concerned" over the proposals of the Scottish Qualification Authority.
